There’s no point in hiding the fact that special connections are created with some client couples, and Fabio and Enzo are one of these. They first contacted me in 2018, but their wedding, initially planned for 2020, was postponed to 2021 for obvious reasons. Over that period of time, there were three years of phone calls, chats, and emails, but mostly meetings in person.
Fabio and Enzo, who have always loved the Val d’Orcia, spent many weekends here and even two long weeks of holidays with their families in the summertime. This sparked a bond of friendship and great fondness with them. For this reason, their wedding was an emotion-filled day, not only for me but also for all the suppliers connected to the event.
The celebrations began on Friday with a pool party to welcome the guests at
Borgo di Castelvecchio. The long reception started in late afternoon and included a table featuring local products, select bubbly, and artisan ice-cream to then finish off with a spectacular drag queen show.
The theme of the wedding, held the next day at the beautiful
Dimora Buonriposo, was English country chic. The suggested dress code called for hats and flowery dresses for the ladies and linen and informal wear for the gentlemen. The grooms wore tailored suits recalling the dandy elegance of yesteryear, truly elegant but not over the top.
Made-to-measure shirts, suspenders, hats, and handmade shoes - every detail was studied to match perfectly with the colours of the golden fields of the Val d’Orcia in July. Accompanied by their mothers, the already emotional Enzo and Fabio headed towards the ceremony celebrated by one of their best friends under an old oak tree decorated with dozens of chiffon ribbons that fluttered in the summer wind. The main aisle was very elegantly decorated with flowers of larkspur, guelder roses, roses, and olive branches. The palette was made up of white, ivory, acid green, powder blue, and cream to which lilac, golden yellow, and hints of red burgundy were added in the dining area.
After the ceremony, there was a long aperitif around the pool with a view over one of the most beautiful parts of the Val d’Orcia. But it was the dinner, catered by
Rolands, that was to be the main event of the day with the breathtaking decorations, centrepieces created by
Flowers Living based on the grooms’ idea - a very long fine silver stem rose up from the pink linen tablecloths and burst into a jubilation of flowers and greenery. Very elegant personalized menus in gold ink on blue artisan paper by
Studio Alispi were set on the custom-made plates by
Virginia Casa and paired with faceted crystal glasses as well as vintage cutlery. For the tableau, an antique mirror in a gold frame and blue writing. The lighting, by
Wedding Music & Lights, featured a staging of string lights based on the model of a circus tent.
Later, the cutting of the cake – an enormous crostata with wild strawberries – and a lively party with a mix of disco, revival, and house music.
